    Cool-pot startup contest in Shanghai on 20.9.2024

     

  • About  Cool-Pot 2024

    First time ever, Shanghai startup scene and Finnish spa culture have a baby together. Welcome the "Cool-Pot", a startup pitching event, where the startups from Shanghai get to present their companies to the Nordic audience through live-stream. The purpose of the Cool-pot concept is to spread knowledge of Finnish brands to new markets and provide a platform for local startups from these areas to connect with the Finnish startup ecosystem.

     

    To bring a Finnish twist to the event, the pitching will be done while sitting in a bucket of 0 degree ice-water. Yes, you read that right. Successfully delivering your pitch without leaving the ice-water bucket will earn you access to the world-famous Finnish Sauna heated at 80 degrees, and a certificate for being an extremely cool founder.

    There is room for 8 startups to join the event, and the pitching places will be reserved in the order of applications. Each founder will have 2 minutes to deliver their pitch.

  • Participation Requirements

    ‼︎ All of the selected applicants need to bring swim suits to wear while pitching and inside the Sauna room.

    ‼︎ All of the applicants need to consent to being seen on the stream while wearing their swimwear only.

  • How It Works for Pitching Founders

    From Shanghai Heat to Finnish Cool

    Founder will arrive from the blazing hot Shanghai to the Cool-pot venue, and change their swimsuit on to prepare for the upcoming adventure of Finnish culture.

    Embracing Finnish Sauna Culture

    The founder will be presented on stage, and they will be taken to enjoy the authentic Finnish 80 degree sauna. Inside the sauna an interview will be conducted for the founder about their startup background, and basic skills for surviving alone in Finland are given to the founders by introducing the meanings of essential words used in Finnish sauna like "löyly" and "ovi kiinni".

    2 min Ice-Bucket Pitch

    The founder will step into the ice-bucket and lower themselves until their shoulders are under the water. That's when the 2-minute time will start, during which the pitch can be delivered. Presentation slides can be utilized during the pitching. Changing the slides will be done with the help of the event organizers.

    Crafting Finnish Dishes

    Cool-pot would be nothing without Finnish culinary experience. The founders will get to create their own dishes utilizing Finnish ingredients straight from the purest Finnish nature, and learn about the secrets of Finnish cuisine.

    Cool Founder Certification

    Now that the founders have experienced all the key aspects of the Finnish culture, they will be provided with an certification of being an extremely cool founder, and a Finnish citizenship (ok, maybe not the last part).

     

  • For Finnish Brands Active in the Chinese Market

    The Cool-pot in S-tron 2024 event will be a platform for Finnish Spa and lifestyle brands to market their products to the Shanghai startup ecosystem audience. Cool-pot accepts only Finnish brands for collaboration, and the streaming will be done utilizing live-commerce methods, where the stream viewers can purchase the products easily through the streaming platform. The products of the sponsoring companies will be shown during some parts of the live-stream, and the live/online audience will be provided with the possibility to purchase your products through links to the e-commerce stores.

    Becoming a sponsor of the event requires only sending your products to us, but voluntary participation of 💲2000 helps us to bring more Finnish students on-site to organize this and the following events.
